Field Station at The Late Afternoon Light in San Diego

A wooden marine science field station extends over the clear tidal water of San Diego Bay, supported by weathered pilings that anchor it to the seabed. The late afternoon sun casts long, sharp shadows across the planks of the walkway, highlighting the texture of the aged wood and the gentle ripples in the shallow water below. Several small research boats are moored nearby, bobbing slightly with the current. In the background, the silhouette of the city skyline rises against the bright sky, while a few gulls circle overhead. The quiet functionality of a working waterfront, with scientific equipment visible on the deck and the natural light reflecting off the water's surface.
