Feathered Frost Patterns on Car Windshield Before Dawn
by Ada Benitez
Delicate ice crystals form intricate feather-like structures across the dark glass of a car windshield, their sharp edges catching the faint glow of ground fog below. The stillness of early spring near St Petersburg allows starlight to illuminate the translucent patterns without harsh shadows. Below the glass, a layer of low-lying mist pools in the surrounding terrain, creating a soft, mirrored reflection that doubles the icy branches. The frost spreads in fractal clusters, varying from fine, hair-thin lines to broader, barbed formations that mimic bird plumage. Dark voids of the night sky press against the upper corners, while the lower half of the glass reflects the muted, silver light of the fog bank. One crystal at the bottom edge catches the faintest light, glowing like a tiny diamond against the black glass.
