Frost Fractals on Car Window Dawn Whitehorse
by Lola Knight
Delicate fern-like ice crystals spread across the dark glass of a vehicle window, their branching patterns illuminated by the faint glow of a predawn sky. The intricate white structures contrast sharply against the deep blue-black background of the night, which fades into a soft, misty gray horizon. Outside, the wet road surface reflects the starlight, creating a shimmering path that draws toward the distant, obscured shape of a causeway. Thick fog rests on the lower portion of the glass, blurring the edges of the frost and softening the view of the surrounding landscape. The texture of the ice appears sharp and brittle, while the mist adds a layer of depth that separates the frozen surface from the damp, open air beyond. One branch of frost rests against the edge of the wiper blade, marking the boundary between the interior and the thawing early spring morning.
