Farrier in Autumn Light at Abiko Square
by Aria Vinson
Soft, diffused light after rain illuminates a farrier standing in the open doorway of a stone building within Abiko's public square. Late afternoon clouds scatter the sun, casting even shadows across the wet cobblestones. The farrier leans forward, his sleeves stained with dark dust from the day's work. Golden and russet leaves from nearby trees rest on the damp ground and rest on the low walls. A fine mist of sea spray hangs in the air, catching the light and softening the edges of the distant buildings. The texture of the rough stone contrasts with the smooth, wet pavement. Dust motes swirl gently near the doorway, suspended in the humid air. One droplet of water rests on the edge of a wooden doorframe, reflecting the gray sky.
