Fallstreak Hole Over Kolkata Monsoon Plain
by Aurora Klein
Copper-toned light washes the sky above the flat plains near Esplanade in Kolkata as a monsoon storm approaches. A distinct fallstreak hole tears through the dense cloud layer, revealing a dark void where precipitation has already fallen. Below, a thin layer of fog rests on the ground, softening the horizon line and obscuring distant structures. The clouds above display heavy, textured layers in shades of slate and charcoal, contrasting sharply with the bright, glowing gap in the center. This circular void stands out against the heavy monsoon overcast, creating a stark geometric break in the otherwise uniform sky. The scene shows the quiet tension of the last moments before nightfall, with the fog rising gently from the wet earth. A sharp edge of the cloud hole glows against the deepening twilight.
