Espresso Cup in Boston

A white ceramic espresso cup sits on a rough granite windowsill inside a Beacon Hill brownstone, catching the flat noon light that spills through the glass. The cup is empty and stained with dark coffee rings at the bottom, resting beside a small brass bell that has tarnished with age. Through the window, the blurred green leaves of a maple tree sway gently against the gray sky, providing a soft natural backdrop. One drop of condensation rests on the rim of the cup, reflecting the dull daylight outside.
