Under the flat, diffused light of an overcast Istanbul midday, a narrow cobblestone alleyway reveals a small, traditional kahvehane entrance where a stone boot scraper sits embedded in the threshold, worn smooth by decades of footsteps. Beside it, a stack of folded linen tablecloths in deep crimson and navy blue rests on a low wooden stool, their creases catching the soft ambient light. One ceramic cup with a matte glaze sits precariously on the edge of a nearby wrought-iron chair, its surface reflecting the gray sky.
