Steel-blue ambient light from the fading twilight illuminates a military drummer crouched beneath a heavy camouflage net shelter. The fabric drapes low, creating a confined space where winter wind whips loose threads and stirs the hem of a wool coat. The drummer grips a large cylindrical press roll, positioning it on the damp ground with deliberate, precise movements. Behind the shelter, distant city lights begin to glow in the cold air, casting a soft, diffuse illumination on the scene. The ground is covered in sparse, frost-dusted grass, and the texture of the netting casts a patterned shadow across the soldier's focused face. One strap hangs loosely from the roll, resting against the muddy earth.
