Domestic Objects in Hong Kong
A narrow concrete stairwell in a dense Wanchai residential block descends sharply under the flat, gray light of a winter noon. The space is cluttered with the vertical evidence of domestic life: a faded blue plastic laundry basket overflows with damp white shirts, while a rusted metal railing supports a cluster of household items. A white ceramic soup bowl sits precariously on a lower step, its surface reflecting the dull sky, next to a black leather basketball that has lost its grip texture. A glass carafe, half-filled with tap water, rests on a makeshift shelf of stacked cardboard boxes, its transparency against the rough, stained concrete walls.
