Devils Bridge Midnight Reflection Circle in beside a canal-front facade in United Kingdom

Devils Bridge Midnight Reflection Circle

by Adrian Burton

Deep shadows swallow the stone arch of the Devil's Bridge, leaving only a sharp rim light to define its curve against the night sky. The canal water lies perfectly still, mirroring the bridge to form an unbroken circle. Pale moonlight strikes the water's surface, creating a bright ring that contrasts with the dark stone. Late spring foliage rests on the canal-front facade in the background, barely visible in the gloom. The reflection creates a symmetrical loop where the arch meets its inverted twin. A faint glow from a distant streetlamp catches the edge of the water, marking the boundary between the solid stone and its liquid copy.
