A metal defrost tray rests inside the open door, catching the spill from a nearby fixture. Beside the appliance, a folded terry cloth napkin lies flat on a brushed metal counter. A handled cardboard box and laminated service cards sit at the edge of the surface, their colors sharp against the dimming room. Reflections on the polished floor mirror the tray, the light, and the objects above, forming a symmetrical composition. Lamplight settles into the corners where early summer shadows lengthen across the floorboards.
