Taped floor marks form geometric grids on the worn wooden surface, leading toward a cluster of costume trunks stacked against a wall lined with unlit paper lanterns. Long banner poles lean in the corner, their fabric ends resting on the damp floorboards. Outside the large window, a light drizzle blurs the view of the water, casting a gray, reflective sheen that mirrors the overcast sky into the room. The early afternoon light is soft and diffuse, bouncing off the wet exterior to illuminate the dust motes hanging above the rehearsal space. Bold contrasts appear between the warm, aged wood tones of the shrine interior and the cold, steel-gray hues of the winter rain visible through the glass. One reflection of a lantern glows faintly on the wet windowpane near the frame edge.
