Cyclist Sprints at Sunset Near Riva Split
by Gloria Vance
Sea spray drifts across the asphalt near the Riva promenade in Split as a track cyclist launches into a flying two-hundred-meter sprint. The setting sun casts a warm, golden glow that wraps around the rider's form, highlighting the tension in their shoulders and the speed of their motion. From a low worm's-eye view, the cyclist's wheels blur slightly against the darkening pavement, while the horizon glows with orange and purple hues. The rider wears tight athletic gear, their body angled forward in disciplined concentration. Mist from the Adriatic rests on the lower frame, catching the light and creating a shimmering haze around the tires. The edge of the road meets the sea, at the base of the athlete in this specific coastal Croatian setting during the turn of the seasons. at the edge is a single droplet of salt water resting on the metal rim of the wheel.
