A cyclist in a high-visibility vest pauses on the wet asphalt of a Toronto street, the low morning sun casting long, sharp shadows across the pavement. The rider’s gloved hand rests on the handlebar grip, leaving a faint smudge of dirt on the polished aluminum stem, a small mark of daily transit. Behind them, a row of brick townhouses displays peeling white paint and rusted fire escapes, their windows reflecting the pale blue sky. A discarded wool scarf, bright red and frayed at the ends, lies tangled near a storm drain grate, caught in the rhythm of the city’s early commute.
