Cyclist in Toronto at First Light

by Andres Reid

Wet pavement in Toronto’s Distillery District mirrors the pale morning sky, slick with rain that has just ceased. A cyclist in a high-visibility yellow jacket pauses at a crosswalk, the neon yellow of their gear reflecting sharply against the grey, damp asphalt. Beside them, a red brick warehouse wall, characteristic of the area’s industrial heritage, rises steeply, its texture rough and weathered. One golden reflection from a distant streetlamp glints off the wet metal of the cyclist’s handlebars, creating a stark, high-fashion contrast between the utilitarian gear and the sleek, rainy surface.
