A weathered wooden workbench in a Quebec City attic holds a row of chisels with darkened handles and steel blades. Late morning light streams through a dormer window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air above the tools. The surface bears deep knife marks and scratches that reveal the grain of the aged pine beneath the varnish. One metal shaving curls from the edge of the board, catching the bright sunlight.
