Knife Marks in Chiang Mai

A worn wooden step in a Chiang Mai doorway catches the low golden light of the late afternoon sun. Deep knife marks scar the surface of the timber, recording years of use and daily activity in this busy household. One potted geranium sits on the ledge above, its red blooms against the weathered grey-brown wood. Dust motes drift in the slanted beam, settling on the rough grain of the entryway floor.
