Chicago Dryers at Blue Hour

Inside a cramped 24-hour laundromat on the South Side, blue hour light falls through a high, wire-reinforced window, casting long, cool shadows across the linoleum floor. A row of industrial dryers hums, their amber indicator lights reflecting off the chrome lint traps. In the foreground, a red plastic laundry basket overflows with damp towels, one white towel edge draped casually over the rim, catching the faint streetlamp glow from outside. A small, cracked plastic bowl sits on a folding table nearby, holding a few coins and a tangled measuring tape left behind by a customer.
