The deep indigo twilight of a Rio de Janeiro balcony frames a weathered ceramic sink where a brass faucet drips into a basin filled with rainwater. Condensation beads on the exterior of a glass jar holding fresh hibiscus flowers, their crimson petals contrasting sharply against the cool blue ambient light. Behind the sink, a slatted wooden shutter stands ajar, revealing a glimpse of the city's dense, shadowed favela hills rising into the night sky. One droplet rests on the faucet's spout, refracting the distant streetlights into a tiny, sharp point of orange fire.
