Ceramic Crocks in Hyderabad

Under the harsh, direct light of a clear Hyderabad afternoon, a cluster of glazed ceramic crocks rests on a sun-bleached window ledge, their surfaces catching the intense midday glare. The rough, pitted texture of the surrounding lime plaster contrasts sharply with the smooth, crazed glaze of the pottery, which reflects the blue sky in distorted, wavy patterns. Behind the ledge, a metal grill painted in peeling teal green frames the view, hinting at the traditional architectural style of the Old City district. One, sharp crack runs down the side of the largest crock, revealing the raw, unglazed terracotta earth beneath the decorative surface.
