Cool blue morning light spills across the narrow concrete steps of a Seoul alleyway, illuminating a vendor’s makeshift stall where piles of napa cabbages rest in woven plastic crates. A translucent glass jar, filled with brine and floating chili flakes, sits precariously near the edge, catching the diffused sky. The rough texture of the painted plaster wall behind is marked by water stains from recent rain, against the smooth, wet sheen of the vegetables.
