A brass coat hook mounted on the rough, warm plaster of a narrow hallway wall anchors the winter noon light in Bologna. The curved metal catches a sharp highlight from the window, against the matte, textured surface of the aged stucco behind it. Beside the hook, a heavy wool coat hangs still, its dark fabric absorbing the ambient daylight in the confined space. Dust motes drift slowly through the beam, settling on the simple, unadorned metal curve.
