Brasilia Sunset Alley Laundry Lines

Rich amber light floods a narrow back alley running alongside a shuttered arcade in Brasilia. White laundry lines stretch taut between the stark concrete walls of the surrounding buildings, holding sheets and shirts that hang motionless. Heat shimmer rises in wavy distortions from the paved ground, blurring the lower edges of the hanging fabrics. The low angle view emphasizes the towering height of the arcade pillars against the deepening orange sky. Shadows lengthen across the concrete floor, catching the texture of the worn pavement. The suspended laundry creates a rhythmic pattern against the rigid geometry of the modernist architecture. One piece of fabric catches the direct sun, glowing bright orange against the shadowed recess.
