Blurry Cherry Blossoms in SoHo Stairwell

Predawn darkness fills a tiled stair hall in SoHo, New York, where a projector casts a focused beam of light across dark walls. Swirling white streaks dominate the frame, representing cherry blossom petals caught in a sudden gust. The petals blur into soft, abstract lines that contrast sharply with the rigid geometric grid of the gray tiles. Subtle reflections shimmer on the polished stone steps and damp surfaces, mirroring the fleeting motion. The light creates a graphic tension between the organic flow of the falling flowers and the static, industrial architecture. A sharp edge of a metal handrail cuts through the bottom right corner, at the base of the ethereal movement in a solid, physical reality.
