Blue Evening Furrows in Bahamas Grain Field in across a harvested grain field in Bahamas

Blue Evening Furrows in Bahamas Grain Field

by Bernard Mullins

Dark parallel furrows stretch across the harvested field, their deep shadows against the lighter ridges of turned earth. The sky offers only the faint, cool blue glow of late evening, reflecting softly off a nearby body of water to illuminate the texture of the soil. Fine particles of chaff and dust drift lazily above the furrows, catching the dim ambient light. The rhythmic lines of the plow cut diagonally through the frame, following the rule of thirds to emphasize the scale of the agricultural work. The ground appears dry and loose, marked by the practical aftermath of the harvest season. A small pile of golden chaff rests in the corner of the nearest furrow.
