Warm light from round bulbs around a large mirror washes over a worn leather barber chair and black counter. Metal clippers rest beside a crumpled neck strip and a smear of white shaving cream. Textured walls hold quiet shadows where the light does not reach. String lights hang nearby, casting a soft yellow hue across the station. Deep creases in the leather sit against the smooth metal of the tools. Dust motes float in the negative space surrounding the chair. A faint reflection of the street glimmers in the glass at the base of the mirror.
