Under a flat, diffused gray sky, a street vendor in Monastiraki balances a large, dented aluminum baking sheet on his hip, using it as a makeshift tray for a pile of dark, glossy Kalamata olives. The vendor, wearing a faded blue t-shirt, leans against a white-washed stucco wall that shows the rough texture of aged plaster and peeling paint. Behind him, a rusted iron hinge on a heavy wooden shutter is visible, against the smooth, wet surface of the olives. A few passersby in bright summer clothing blur past in the background, their colors muted by the overcast light.
