Bakery Window in Brussels

First light after rain in Brussels glows with a cool, diffuse blue hue, reflecting off the slick cobblestones of a narrow passage near the Grand Place. A small bakery window, steamed from the morning bake, reveals a glimpse of the interior where a faded towel edge drapes over a metal rail, slightly out of focus. Outside, the wet stone steps lead up to a heavy wooden door, its paint chipped to reveal layers of history. A lone scarf, left carelessly on a bench, absorbs the moisture, its colors muted by the overcast sky.
