Pale morning light spills across the wet cobblestones of a narrow Brussels lane, catching the condensation on a chipped blue enamel washbasin set on a wooden stool outside a bakery. A gardener in a faded raincoat leans over, rinsing a wire brush roll under a steady stream from a rusted spigot, the water splashing onto the damp stone. Behind him, a wooden broom leans against a wall of dark brick, while a single vine climbs a trellis of wrought iron, its leaves glistening with dew.
