Backyard Patio in Austin

Under the harsh, clear afternoon sun of an Austin residential backyard, a concrete patio is sliced by the sharp, geometric shadows of a live oak. A weathered wicker chair with a canvas seat sits slightly askew near a stucco wall painted in faded terracotta, its surface textured by the dappled leaf shadows dancing across it. Beside the chair, a metal laundry basket holds a crumpled denim work shirt, while a pair of rubber-soled sneakers rests near the edge of the frame. In the distance, a chain-link fence separates the yard from a neighbor’s roofline, and a small ceramic wash basin sits empty on a low brick ledge, catching the bright light.
