Emerald ribbons of the aurora borealis stretch across a perfectly clear night sky, casting their glow onto the cracked ice of a frozen fjord below. The surface of the fjord acts as a mirror, doubling the luminous green waves in a symmetrical composition that divides the view in half. Along the ridgeline, frost coats the dark earth in a fine, white dusting, signaling the fragile transition of early spring thaw. The last blue light of evening lingers on the horizon, creating a deep indigo gradient that fades into the blackness of the open water. Sharp cracks in the ice reveal the dark liquid beneath, while the distant ridgeline anchors the scene in the rugged terrain near Yellowknife. A thin line of reflected light traces the edge of a jagged ice floe.
