Allotment Gardens in Vancouver at The Early Morning Light

Early morning light falls through the overcast sky above a community garden in Vancouver, where the long shadow of the Granville Street Viaduct stretches diagonally across wet plots of soil and young vegetables. Rain has recently passed, leaving droplets on the green leaves of tomatoes and beans growing in raised wooden beds. A narrow concrete path winds through the allotments, glistening with moisture. In the background, the steel structure of the viaduct looms large, its industrial form against the organic shapes of the garden. Pedestrians can be seen walking along the elevated path above, their figures small against the grey concrete. The quiet intersection of urban infrastructure and local horticulture in British Columbia.
