A corner tailor’s shop in the Garment District reflects the damp gray dusk, its large plate-glass window steamed slightly from the interior heat. Inside, a pair of heavy tailor shears rests open on a scarred wooden cutting table, blades catching the neon spill from a passing taxi outside. Beside them, a faded wool scarf hangs loosely from a hook, its fringe brushing a stack of folded muslin. The street outside is slick with light rain, blurring the yellow cabs into streaks of amber and white. Through the glass, the reflection of a pedestrian’s umbrella merges with the shop’s interior, creating a layered view of urban life.
