A pair of worn red rubber slippers sits abandoned near the door, hinting at a quick exit into the cold. Behind the counter, metal kitchen shelves sag under the weight of stacked biscuit tins and plastic condiment bottles, creating a colorful, busy mosaic of reds and yellows against the dull gray of the winter day. A woven cane texture from a broken chair back peeks out from beneath a pile of invoices, while a faded tool apron hangs crookedly from a rusted peg rail, its pockets stuffed with pens and receipts.
