A weathered wooden rowing boat rests on its side on the damp, grey concrete of a Liverpool waterfront quay during the cool early morning light. The hull shows signs of use with peeling paint and dark water stains along the gunwales where it meets the wet ground. Beside the boat, a small metal bucket sits overturned, reflecting the pale, diffuse sky above the industrial buildings in the background. One frayed rope lies coiled near the bow, its fibers catching the morning dew in sharp, glistening detail.
