A weathered wooden fruit crate sits on the rough-hewn sill of a Hokkaido dairy barn, catching the low angle of the golden hour sun. The slats of the crate are worn smooth by years of handling, with faint traces of white milk residue clinging to the deep grain. One, translucent apple rests inside the hollowed compartment, its skin glowing with a warm, amber hue from the directional light. Dust motes drift lazily in the shaft of light that illuminates the crate's shadowed interior.
