Warm golden hour light floods the high ceiling of the Devonport market hall, illuminating dust motes that drift slowly through the air. A solitary woman sits beneath a large, leafless tree planted in the center of the concrete floor, her posture relaxed as she holds an open book. The honeyed evening sun streams through the high windows, casting long, soft shadows across the polished ground and highlighting the rough bark of the tree trunk. Lamplight begins to settle in the far corners of the vast space, creating pockets of deeper amber against the fading daylight. She wears a thick wool coat, suggesting the chill of early winter, while the surrounding stalls remain empty and quiet. at the edge is the reflection of the book's pages on the smooth floor beneath her boots.
