Low winter sun cuts through thick grey clouds, illuminating the horizon haze above a tiled Barcelona street. A yellow crossing guard post stands rigid on the sidewalk, its reflective stripes catching the pale morning light. Nearby, a discarded coffee cup rests on the wet pavement beside a metal trash bin, and a few crumpled ballots lie tucked against the curb. The wet stone tiles reflect the dramatic sky, creating a mirror of slate and gold. Shadows stretch long across the entrance steps where voters will soon gather. A red ceramic pot sits empty on the ledge, against the cool blue tones of the dawn. The scene holds the quiet tension of a city preparing to vote.
