Wet Linens in Florence

Early morning light cuts through the wet Tuscan air, striking the terracotta roof tiles of a narrow Florentine alley where rain has just ceased. A wrought-iron drying rack, bent by years of use, holds a few damp linens that catch the first direct sunbeam, creating a sharp stripe of brightness against the shadowed cobblestones below. To the left, a faded blue watering jug sits near a potted iris, its purple blossoms heavy with droplets, while a rusted metal bucket rests against the rough plaster wall.
