A narrow service corridor in a Lima apartment block glows with the orange spill of a setting sun hitting the peeling ochre stucco. A young woman in a faded pink apron leans over a chipped white enamel wash basin, rinsing a cluster of green grapes, water droplets clinging to their skins. Behind her, a rusted metal stair rail runs vertically, against the smooth, wet fruit. A wooden spoon rests on the basin's rim, dripping onto the stained concrete floor.
