Wall Bracket in Dubrovnik

A stone mason works on a narrow alley wall in Dubrovnik, the overcast midday light flattening the deep shadows of the ancient limestone blocks. His hands, coated in gray dust, grip an adjustable spanner against a corroded iron bracket, the metal tool against the rough, sun-bleached rock. Beside him, a small window box overflows with vibrant red geraniums, their green leaves catching the diffuse light. A white porcelain cup sits precariously on the ledge, steam rising faintly, while a wooden embroidery hoop leans against the wall, holding a half-finished piece of local lacework.
