Before dawn in Vienna, a solitary railway signal cabin stands beside a set of switch tracks, its windows glowing with the faint, yellow light of a sodium lamp. Icicles hang heavily from the roof eaves, glistening in the pre-dimmer light. The scene is quiet and still, with the tracks stretching into the distance, disappearing into the early morning mist.
