Vending Cart in Hyderabad

A vendor’s stainless steel cart sits parked against a sun-baked brick wall in Hyderabad, the late afternoon heat still radiating from the pavement. Dried drips of red chili paste stain the enamel rim of a large mixing bowl, against the shiny nickel latch on the side door that catches a sharp glint of fading sunlight. Inside the cart’s lower shelf, a few green houseplants in cracked plastic pots lean toward the cooling air, their fronds brushing against stacked white plates. One castor wheel rests on the dusty ground, its rubber tread cracked from years of use.
