Heavy indigo dusk settles over the blue-washed ramparts of Essaouira’s medina, where light rain turns the cobblestones into slick, dark mirrors reflecting the fading sky. A fisherman in a faded yellow raincoat stands near a wooden crate, using a large metal wrench to tighten a bolt on a rusted winch mechanism, his movements practiced and efficient. Behind him, vibrant bougainvillea spills over a whitewashed wall, its magenta petals glistening with droplets, contrasting sharply with the grey wet stone. The rhythmic repetition of arched doorways receding into the mist, showing the quiet, industrial rhythm of the port at twilight without any staged stillness.
