Tiffin Stack in Mumbai
by Ryan Duncan
First light after rain illuminates a wet Mumbai street corner where a vendor stacks steel tiffins on a rusted cart near a weathered shopfront. Dappled leaf shadows from a hanging bougainvillea branch stretch across the scuffed painted wood of the shutter, against the smooth metal of the stacked plates. The scene is anchored by regional architectural details, including exposed brickwork and a faded Hindi sign, at the base of the composition in a specific local context. One drop of water slides down the porcelain jar’s rim, catching the early morning glare before falling onto the damp pavement below.
