Golden hour light slants through the dense canopy of a bougainvillea draped over a rusted iron gate in a Vila Madalena alley, casting dappled magenta shadows across a peeling turquoise stucco wall. Below, a teenager leans against a weathered utility box, adjusting the strap of a bright yellow raincoat that looks out of place in the dry heat.
