Tea Tin on Velvet Chair Lucknow Night
by Solomon Boyd
Silver tea tins rest in neat rows on metal shelving units, their labels facing outward in a disciplined arrangement. One tin sits apart on a plush velvet chair draped in deep maroon fabric, the material catching the warm glow of nearby string lights. Bare bulbs cast a soft, yellow light that pools in the corners of the room, highlighting the dust motes and the smooth, rounded edges of the metal containers. The dry season air leaves the surfaces crisp and clear, with no condensation on the tins. String lights hang loosely in the background, creating a network of soft points against the darkening window where city lights begin to flicker outside. The velvet chair shows slight indentations where the tin rests, pressing the fabric down gently. A small dent on the rim of the tin reflects the overhead bulb directly.
