Tea Preparation in Jaipur

Under the harsh sodium-vapor glare of a Jaipur night, a street vendor’s cart glows with reflected heat. A stack of chipped white tea kettles sits atop a dented aluminum stove, their curved surfaces catching the orange spill of nearby neon signage. Beside them, a shallow reflection ripples across brushed steel tawa griddles, distorting the street’s chaotic geometry into liquid gold. The vendor’s hands, blurred by motion, adjust a brass spout while steam rises in thin, dissipating wisps. In the background, the pink sandstone facade of a heritage building fades into the indigo night, its arched windows dark and silent.
