Surreal Snake Boats and Window in Birmingham Square

Early autumn twilight deepens over the cobblestones of a Birmingham public square as dramatic clouds stack against the horizon. Ornate snake boats painted in crimson and gold rest on the wet ground, their long prows stretching into the distance under the last blue light of evening. Deep shadows swallow the scene while rim light catches the carved details of the hulls. A large rectangular window frame stands upright in the center of the square, yet the glass reflects a dimly lit room interior instead of the outdoor sky. Inside the reflection, a wooden chair and a hanging lantern hang from the ceiling, visible through the glass against the rough stone of the square. The impossible opening sits amidst the festival crowd where the indoor wallpaper texture meets the wet pavement at the edge.
