Sunderland concrete lobby fog surreal architecture

Ribbed concrete arches curve overhead in a symmetrical lobby, their grey surfaces textured with the rough grain of poured formwork. Deep shadows pool in the recesses while a sharp rim light traces the upper edges of the coffered ceiling. A thick layer of fog fills the lower third of the space, stopping abruptly at a knife-sharp horizontal line. Above this boundary, the air is clear and dry, revealing the geometric precision of the architecture. Midsummer light filters faintly through unseen openings, highlighting dust motes suspended in the upper clarity. The fog surface remains perfectly still, creating a stark division between the heavy, humid lower void and the crisp, shadowed upper structure. One vertical seam in the concrete wall aligns perfectly with the center of the fog line.
